The highest concentration of expats in the capital. Expensive but the closest thing to a complete urban neighbourhood in the DR. Excellent walkability by Dominican standards.

Who lives here
Piantini is where most expats end up when they arrive in Santo Domingo and do not yet know where else to go. That is not a criticism. The neighbourhood earns its reputation: Blue Mall and Sambil give you the full shopping experience, the restaurant strip on Abraham Lincoln and the surrounding streets is genuinely excellent, and the concentration of embassies means a large international community already lives here. Long-term expats sometimes move out when they realise they want something with more character, but many stay permanently. The walkability is exceptional by Dominican standards, and the security situation is better than almost anywhere else in the city.
