Las Terrenas › Samaná Peninsula

Playa Bonita

Las Terrenas's most beautiful beach. Quiet, residential, and away from the tourist centre.

$500 – $1,100/mo Those wanting peace, beauty, and separation from the town buzz

Playa Bonita is a long stretch of beach east of Las Terrenas, accessible by a short drive or scooter ride from town. The beach itself is considered the most beautiful in the area, clear water, white sand, and far fewer people than the main Las Terrenas beaches. The surrounding area has a small residential community of expats and Dominicans who prefer quiet over convenience.

Pros

  • Arguably the best beach in the Las Terrenas area
  • Very quiet and peaceful residential atmosphere
  • More affordable than town-centre options
  • Strong appeal for remote workers wanting nature over noise

Cons

  • Requires a scooter or car for everything
  • Limited walking-distance services and restaurants
  • Can feel isolated if you are new to the country

Living at Playa Bonita

The beach is genuinely exceptional, calm, clear, and largely uncrowded even in high season. The residential community here is small and self-selecting: people who chose it deliberately because they wanted the beach without the town. Most are long-term residents with established routines and transport.

Rent

A one-bedroom apartment or villa within walking distance of the beach typically runs $450–$750/month. Larger villas go up to $1,000–$1,500. Some exceptional values exist if you are willing to be 5–10 minutes from the beach rather than directly on it.
