La Ciénega sits just west of central Cabarete. It is a predominantly local Dominican neighbourhood with a quieter pace than the main beach strip. Long-term expats who want to be close to everything without being in the middle of the noise often end up here. Rents are lower than the beachfront and the community feel is genuine.
La Ciénega is where a lot of people end up after their first year in Cabarete. The initial draw of the beach strip fades and the appeal of a quieter street, lower rent, and a more normal daily rhythm takes over. It is a short walk or drive to the beach, restaurants, and everything else Cabarete offers.
