Playa Bonita is a long stretch of beach east of Las Terrenas, accessible by a short drive or scooter ride from town. The surrounding area has a small residential community of expats and Dominicans who prefer quiet over convenience.

Living at Playa Bonita

The beach is genuinely exceptional, calm, clear, and largely uncrowded even in high season. The residential community here is small and self-selecting: people who chose it deliberately because they wanted the beach without the town. Most are long-term residents with established routines and transport.

A one-bedroom apartment or villa within walking distance of the beach typically runs $450–$750/month. Larger villas go up to $1,000–$1,500. Some exceptional values exist if you are willing to be 5–10 minutes from the beach rather than directly on it.
